There are places in the world where it is possible to go without seeing another person for days and where no man-made sounds are heard; spectacular remote valleys, drinkable water flowing all around, lakes, views that only a handful of people have ever seen before. What's more, is that all this can be found in our own country.

There are many that do not seem to realize quite what there is within the UK. The few remaining wild areas in the UK are seen largely like big outdoor theme parks, with roads, car parks, easy access mountain paths, signposted viewpoints, quaint little coffee shops and convenient camp and caravan sites. Not many people ever think to venture beyond the roads, paths and campsites.
